Goodyear Ultra Grip WRT
Here’s a product that’s starting to age but remains a very valid and relevant choice. While some experts might find the technology behind Goodyear’s Ultra Grip WRT (Winter Reactive Technology) tire to be outdated, but that didn’t stop renowned German publication Auto Motor und Sport from recently naming it its Top Tire for Winter.
It owes its popularity to proven grip on ice and strong power in the snow, plus it’s considered to be very durable.
For the rest, there is a more rugged LT-type version; the Wrangler DuraTrac was first conceived for off-road work but it’s found favour among owners of heavier-duty pickups in general.
It’s worth noting that some Wrangler products for SUVs feature the winter-approved logo but belong more in the category of adapted all-seasons. Incidentally, some DuraTRac models of tires can take studs.
Lastly, you may or may not know that the Dunlop brand is also owned and produced by Goodyear, and that it offers quality winter tires for SUVS, for instance the Winter Maxx SJ8.
