Over a thousand people answered the call, taking part last evening in the inaugural BFGOODRICH TIRE CHALLENGE. The goal of this event, the first of its kind in Montreal, is to reduce illegal street racing by giving speed buffs the chance to participate in drag races in a legal and controlled environment.
Over 200 cars took part in the drag races, with a total of nearly 700 starts over the course of the evening - and not one dangerous incident. For BFGoodrich Tires spokesperson Sylvain Leclerc, "Tonight's success, which surpassed our most optimistic plans, shows that there is a real demand for this kind of activity."
The BFGoodrich Tire Challenge will be held every Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. until mid-October. In case of adverse weather conditions, interested participants should contact the Saint-Eustache Autodrome at (450) 472-6222 to find out whether the event will be held.
