Ford Canada is now recalling 29,458 Ford Ranger pickups from the 2004-2006 model years that were equipped with potentially dangerous airbags manufactured by Takata.
These vehicles are part of the 5 million additional units recalled by U.S. authorities last week due to a risk of excessive airbag deployment. The driver’s front airbag inflator could explode and injure or kill front-seat occupants.
Affected owners will be notified and urged to take their Ranger to a local dealer to have the airbag inflator replaced.
So far nine people in North America have died as a direct result of exploding Takata airbags. Other cases are still under investigation.
