An Excuse to Buy New Sunglasses?

Sunglasses can be found everywhere. You can find them at the airport, the street corner, the grocery store! But even though they say they have 100% protection against the sun's harmful rays, you don't always know what you're getting, especially with the el cheapo stuff. Yes, they're better than nothing in the short term, but for the long term, there are better options.

That's not a plug to go out drop hundreds of dollars on a pair of Guccis or Pradas, but the benefits of proper eye protection are priceless.

While talking to an optician about the benefits of good glasses, she mentioned that polarized lenses are a great way to keep your eyes safe and to cut out glare, particularly when driving. They sharpen the images you look at and can look good on you at the same time! Furthermore, for individuals who have light sensitivities, they work really well. And they don't have to cost a fortune.

Granted, the bigger the name the bigger the price tag, but at least you know you're getting a quality product. And a lot of them come with warranties, too.

One brand I like that's relatively inexpensive but totally fashionable is Ray Ban. Their trendy glasses are lightweight and highly functional. They even can be outfitted with polarized lenses.

Maui Jim is also another brand that has a wide variety of styles to choose from and its glasses are very protective for the eyes. These will run you a few extra dollars but are great quality.

There are also plenty of brands in between. Visit a local eyewear store or boutique to find out which pair fits you and your budget the best.

You only have one set of eyes so be sure to protect them. And for those who have longer commutes, when the sun is out, it's even more important to keep your eyes in focus.
